Akira Soundtrack CD's
The Akira soundtrack was composed by Yamashiro Shoji and performed by his group Geinoh Yamashirogumi.
Traditional buddhist chants and Japanese instruments clash with tribal beats and futuristic soundscapes like Neo-Tokyo boils with religious fanatics and cyberpunk street gangs. This is the perfect soundtrack to this film and adds to the mood better than any I've heard before. Not only does it emphasize the industrial nightmare that is Neo-Tokyo, it also fits seamlessly with the characters and dialougue. The Clown leader just before facing kaneda in a dual at the beggining and when Tetsuo is set upon by giant toys. The soundtrack plays an intergral part in these scenes. Pretty much every part of the soundtrack blends with the sound effects and makes this soundtrack a significant part of the film. To me I don't think the film would have been as good if this relationship wasn't as strong.
